Wound the window down on the elf while at the mot station and it was free enough going down till it got 3/4 of the way then heard a sound of metal springing or slapping and now it wont go back up. It will go further down though but now it is so tight it has elongated the new plastic handle and is jammed down.
Anyone have an idea before I strip down the door?

could be the window runner channel? the metal lip that fits to the glass, they rust terribly and then you wind down the window and the pressure of metal on metal sliding and the weight of the glass pressing down on the rusty weak metal bends them all shapes. that would be my first bet, but yes you will have to strip the door down  |

Ta bud. I though it maybe this but the window won't lift up which it prob would if it was out of the channel. I'll have a look when I get two mins. It's in the garage for now so no big problem.

may not be out of the channel, but the channel may have corodded and twisted as the runners slide on it so it wont slide back.
similar thing happened to mine, although if you try and force it up you got a clunk noise and loads of rust falling about inside the door lol.

On the nail m8. Found the glass channel had rusted and bent over causing it to stop below the metal runner. Had to reshape it a little and trim the bent bit off. Fine now.

No problems! thats the first time ive been useful on here!  new ones are only about £7 or so mind. (i think) better to replace it once it gets a bit mangled like that than all of a sudden having your window drop ito the door! glad its sorted though! ;D |
