I was wondering how many of you have had, or looked into having any of their rusty mini parts shot blasted?

How did it turn out?

How much did it cost?

Do you know if there is anywhere local to Neath/Swansea that offers this service?

Taff, how big is the cabinet at your work, and how does it work, if you don't mind me asking?

I've stripped my mini down to a bare shell, so basically anything that is rusty but reusable I want to blast.......subframes etc

I was doing some research on the internet last night. Maybe it would be worth building my own blast cabinet. I found a few website with plans for cabinets.

I grit blasted one of my subframes a couple of years ago, but i had to do it outside because of the large size.
The compressor was going flat out trying to keep the air supply going and my compressor is not small.
There's a bloke in Porthyrhyd who does commercial shot blasting.

its only a small cabinet, i'd imagine you could fit an alternator or similar size in there, its very old and rarely used these days, most of our larger work gets shipped out..

I sand blasted my mini, had good results.
I didn't do the out outside of the shell only did the bottom of the shell, inside, and the engine bay. Only problem is, this was 4 years ago, and still there is grit coming out of the shell.
