I think a faulty alternator would usually make the ignition lamp stay lit?

Arn't they meant to go off after a few cycles if the engine is good?
or do you mean they dont come on when the ignition is a turn away from starting?

itso k now guys all sorted. wanna guess what it was??? well ill tell you.. it was the fuses inside the car. i removed the fuses and connected those and they worked so now they are attached to my new fuse box on the dash. minis up and running great now. fine tuning in need though. starts off the key without choke
