I have a high pitch squeak coming from my front passenger side wheel, it doesn't happen all the time just occasionally. Braking doesn't seem to affect it but it does become louder when i turn right. Does anyone have any ideas? I know my ball joint is slightly worn, so could this by the reason for the squeaking? Thanks, Dan

could be early signs of a wheel bearing on the way out?

Yep. Sounds like a wheel bearing.

Thanks guys, but the squeaking has turned into a kinda scrapping sound now so i don't know if its a stone caught sumwhere or not, gonna take a good look at it later on when i've finished work. It's really not a nice noise...!

Before you take the wheel off, when it's jacked up off the ground check for any play in the bearing, balljoints etc. Sounds like a worn brake pad or a chipping stuck inside the brake cover now.

It's very common for the disc brake stone guards to scrape if and when their mounting brackets shear.
So it's a simple task of checking them. But to be honest I'd recommend removing the stone guards altogether as their nothing but a pain in the backside.

Hey guys, yeah it was the bearings in the end and there was also some rust there, so we cleaned the rust off and put a bit of grease on there for now untill the new bearings come. Thanks for the help. Dan

Tidy. If the bearing had some rust on it make sure the bearing seal is in place on the back of the hub, just in case.

yup sounded just like wheel bearing to me. get rid of those guards they are a nightmare waiting to happen. pointless bit of engineering. keeps heat in? hmmm not best idea. lol. you got the bearing sorted yet? make sure you put the little plastic disk back on the driveshaft. very simple but effective design. and make sure seasl on right way round (2 different seals in a kit) 1 outside 1 inside.
