Somebody stole my wife's mini yesterday and we are both gutted I am trying to see if anybody sees the mini on their travels . Some of you may have already seen her she is dark blue with a white roof and also has a black full electric foldback sunroof. You can see the engine compartment is different as it is a 998 matfair but has a 1275 metro engine fitted but it has the smaller carb and it doesn't have electronic dizzy fitted. I also had to bodge the advance and retard 2 days ago so it has about 4 inches of green pipe comin off the vacuum going into the normal pipe which then goes up to the carb. It also has unusual seats fitted as the are the limited edition half leather ones, which aren't standard. Any info or thoughts on how to get her back would be great. yeah i'll keep a look out for it aswell, probably worth keeping an eye on ebay etc aswell.
i hope who ever did it gets caught quickly

Cheers mate. I live in a part of a town with perhaps 2000 people and maybe 400 houses and I have never heard of a stolen car before. I'm pretty sure the car was targeted, but at least they had an eye for quality. My neighbour came over asking if I "wanted to buy a mini"? this upset me quite a lot as i love my cars and hence buy cars with character and soul. I told him that nobody wanted to steal the boring characerless rubbish all my neighbours had as they wanted something that stood out in the crowd. He came round with a bottle of booze later, realizing he had overstepped the mark, and hopefully realizing that it ain't the imobilizer on his motor that stops it being nicked, its because nobody wants it. Our mini may not be worth the couple of grand his motor is worth for the technology involved in it. But it is worth far more to anybody who knows even an inkling about motor history........ Rant over

gutted for you. ill keep an eye out. hope the people (if they can be called that) are found under a bus/train/car/elephant.... shame you can't cancel the insurance really, that way if they ever drive past a police car they will get pulled because of the auto number plate reader.... Lovely looking car bet you can't wait to have it back. may be worth getting in touch with the mini mags as well. |

ill keep a eye out in neath and i also work away so when im across the UK ill keep my eyes pealed for you. sad people pinching cars need to grow and get a job and buy there own mini instead of stealing other peoples or better still go pinch a bini. lol

Thanks all for thye sympathy. Still no news and am now goind through the insurance hassle. I have to prove it had a 1275 engine in it. I have a photo of the engine in the car but no number plate showing. Stupid me never altered the reg doc  . i think they may be slamming down the market val as I told them it was worth £1,500 but can't prove the improvements or condition (again no photos with the reg showing). just had a though about the run I went on and will check those pics. Let you know |

Did you let the insurance know it was a 1275 before getting the insurance out, if you hadn't it may invalidate your insurance if you pursue it.
From personal experience when I had a car stolen (never found again) I had loads of pictures showing the condition and I never accepted the first offer. In fact I held off until I was near top book price and just kept arguing (politely).
Everyone is keeping an eye out though.

Wicked ;D I now have a photo of the reg thanks to a photo off this site, hope it helps the insurance s i don't believe I'll ever see the mini again. Already looking on ebay for minis
