Fitted the new loom off an L (93) reg sprite....but havingn probs with what i think is the coil....
i`m not sure about this ballast thingy, should a 93 be balast or non balast, the wire feeding the coil dosent have any trace on it, like my old wiring loom....
anyway, the prob is this.....the car will fire and run, but only for 1 minuite, then the coil seems to be breaking down and no spark to the plugs, ive changed the leki ignition(the landrover setup one) for points and she still seems very spluttery, so ordered new leki ignition and its doing the same thing, also changed the coli but not sure if the coil is balast or non balast (same for all 3 coils that i have here)
any advice on what to look out for? thanks
forgot to add, she starts fine, but after about a min she wont rev and we loose the spark going to the coil, and shes kangerooing along the road with no pull at all, the dizzy hasnt been moved since the roling road setup and all wires are on and connected ok, even the pipe from the carb to the dizzy

might sound stupid but have you checked the plugs?
i had something similar with a new set of plugs, it turned out that the porcelain was cracked and when they heated up the cracks opened up and the spark would track across to the head and not down in the combustion chamber.

byron suggested the plugs, but ive got a set of those light thingies that you pop between the plugs and the leads...and its showing no spark going to the plugs....so prob not the plugs

bit of a miss match lol, does the mini have a ballast resistor fitted to it?

god knows....lol...
ive followed the pink resistor wire on the old loom (e reg) and there dosnt seem to be an actual resistor (that i can see) the wire is attached to a bunch of white wires about 15cm before the fusebox.
the new loom just had a load of white wires attached together in about the same place, def no pink resistor wire....so guessing the newer mini didnt use the ballast coil?

after braving the wind today...seems shes sorted (fingers and everything else crossed)....
i noticed bob had a wire running from the coil to the ignition, so hoped the ballast had been bypassed on him and that he had the coil i needed.....looks like he did as shes been ok since (touch wood) so i`ll be getting a shiny new coil for medusa and bob can have his back...
phew!!!!
