After looking at my engine bay this morning to make sure everything is ok for MOT time next week. My breather pipe seems to have been resting on the exhaust manifold and melted a bit so I cut it before the melted bit and rerouted it to behind the radiator instead. This is what was inside the pipe when I snipped it...... So I checked the oil filler cap and dipstick straight away for mayonaise but both were fine, so I routed the pipe behind the radiator and after fussing with a few other things I started it up to make sure it was all ok. I know its out of focus but what was in the pipe has leaked out onto the bulkhead behind the radiator, it had been leaking out onto the clutch side of the engine before I rerouted it so its been like it for a while I think. What is it?

If it's the breather pipe then I would say it's normal c**p building up in it, particularly as the rad' cap and dipstick is fine.
This is why a lot of people put oil catch tanks on as this c**p is caught in one and can be drained off at intervals, rather than feeding it back into the engine.

Nope, might be worth taking them off and cleaning them out though, just to keep them clear.

yup i am investing in catch tank. otherwise this creates an oily mist and it stinks of you just use cheap breathers (as ive found out) lol and this gets sucked in to your beloved engine and is basically like trying to mix puke with air lol...

Mine came with a catch tank and we removed it (I say catch tank..I mean a Lucozade bottle zip-tied to the inner wing with the breathers going to it...
it was 3/4 full of this stuff.... looks like... cat sick/wee/mayo/mould.... stank to high heaven as well lol.
