i have recently bought a rover mini 35 but only recently they have put stupid speed bums right by my house and has added a good 10-15 minutes to my journeys because i have to go the long way around my village. can anyone give me some tips or idea to how i can raise the car to get over speed bumps. by the way the speed bumps are those stupid red ones that cover like a quarter of the road.
once again if u could help that could be brill. thanks

I dont have any problem with mine? how many fingers can you get between the front tyre and the top of the arch? if its less than 2 it means your rubber doughnuts maybe deteriorating, if you renew these youll be riding really high just as it left the factory... (just for the record mine is about 2 and a half) Or you could invest in some hi-lo's that you can use to adjust your height, however, if your cones are deteriorating I would strongly recommend sorting this first as it will improve your comfort and handling, where as the hi-lo's will just be a quick and dirty fix that wont really solve your problem... my tips for the speedbumps is, slowly slowy catchy monkey and if you can hit it diagonally do it! Or if all else fails, cheat... I have been known to drive with two wheels on the pavement (using a dropkerb) to squeeze past going over a big speedbump, if the red speedbumps are the square ones the only way ive found to get past them at a sensible sort of speed (IE, faster than tickover..) is to go between the two ;D Only do these if its safe to do so obviously, but I would rather avoid getting my car damaged by doing some colourful driving to get past the speedbump/pothole than trying to claim back damages off the council... Im sure you will get some better help with this if you hang on a bit longer

ive got four finger with a tight squeeze but just a pain going over coz i got a dodge knick in the gear box. i go over them with two wheels really slowly in third but in some places i have to go over them properly and it catches the Exhaust a treat and just really annoying and embarrassing because every1 looks when they hear the scrape especially when in my college.

3rd??? I slow right down to 2nd for speed bumps... 4 fingers is fine.. hmmm wierd.. only thing i could suggest is make sure all the exhaust mounts are tucked up nice and high! if its only the exhaust that catches then thats the only thing you could double check really... Just noticed this is your first post, Welcome to the club

3rd gear over speed bumps, I got to go over them in 1st, but as coedy says try going between them I do even if it slows the traffic, I'd rather get beeped at than damage my car.

same here with me, i get the same problem! go between them and sod everyone else let them wait you dont want to damage your car.
besides the bl**dy council dont give a toss about anyone with modded cars, all they want to do is try to slow idiot and joy riders down , but then those type of people dont give a f^^k anyway.
as far as i am concerned the govenment and council are all f****g w*****s and dont give a toss about the motorist. the state of the roads say's enough, :-(
rant over :-)
