He was so bloody minded he wouldn't change the way they were put together on the assembly line even after his production team had alerted him to the problem.
He eventually had to give in and the assembly method was changed.

I guess resolving the issue was cheaper than providing a few pairs of Wellington Boots for the owners of every new Mini?
