Is the gear linkage all ok with you.? And are you using a "Quickshift" by any chance.? I noticed in the wanted section that you want a gear selector, but these are in the bottom of the gearbox (inside) and can only be changed by completely stripping the gearbox out.

got told before if the bleedin dn;t work it will be the selector its just stuck in reverse

Check that the selector rod which goes into the bottom / rear of the gearbox is still connected to the input rod. Sometimes the "roll pin" can wear and cause gear selection problems.

Does the gearstick still "move", but the gearbox stays in reverse.?

it will come out of reverse but go no where

Check this joint on the end of the gear change rod just in case one of the "rollpins" has broken / come out. Also, get someone to change gears whilst you or ANO has a look at the joint to see if it has come loose.

got under the car today and the selector rod is a bit loose is that ok

Well they usually have a little play in them, but just make sure all the roll pins are fitted nice and snug and aren't chafing anywhere.
