we`ve had to change the points on bob but have hit a snag...!!!
how can we get the rotor arm to the pivot on an auto, cant put it into gear and rock it, and cant fit a spanner onto the crank as there is no clearance...
any ideas as to an easy way to sort it?

Pull the plugs out for a start. (less compression.) Stand over the n/side wing, stick your right hand down between the fan and block, grab the fan and try to turn the engine over by turning the fan. If the fan slips on the belt, grab the alternator pulley and squeeze the belt a bit tighter where it goes round the pulley. Never fails unless the engine is seized.

Or you could use a spanner or socket on alternator nut & put a little bit of pressure on the fan belt - taking plugs out first as Dai suggested. (Gwyn)

i`m ok with the normal engines but these auto things...grrrrr... byron did an oil change yeaterday, what a job....canister with springs and stuff, he was not happy and said he`d much prefer the normal ones
