I received 2 e-mails today supposedly from 'Paypal' stating that my credit card was being cancelled as it had reached the end of date. The sender knew my full name and the last 4 digits of my credit card. But I didn't respond or use the link quoted in that message. No I logged into the link I have saved in my bookmarks and as far as I can tell there's no problems on my Paypal account. I marked those e-mails as spam and deleted them. Although I should have copied them and sent them to the security people at 'Paypal'. Anyway I assume it was dodgy, because why would they need to send the message twice? It didn't look very genuine either, but how come they had my full name?

There is a lot of ‘phishing’ mail out there waiting for some idiot to panic and click a link. Full name easy really, web site under your name, filled in a form lately online, had any lucky phone call wins, electoral role, etc, etc, etc.
Last four digits of you credit card harder, hard to get on line but easy in the rubbish that we throw out.
Tips: Shred everything not needed, have a few email addresses - one for all personal / finance stuff, others for different levels i.e.: forum use. Have good security such as firewall, spam filters and the like, most modems now have hardware fire walls, set it ‘on normally medium with software fire wall, as they have to be in your house to get past it.
Check statements regularly and always save and send the email source code off.

Thanks for the reply mate and I should have send it off, but I just hit the SPAM button and deleted both messages straight away. We do shred everything and we have on-line banking, so we check our account every day and watch every single penny entering and leaving our bank account. But I've taken the address it came from off my SPAM filtered list now, so if and when it comes again I'll take the correct course of action. We really do live in a sick world though.

I like to play along the best ones are the random emails you get from supermodels, claiming to be in your area and wanting to hook up. ask for a photo in reply. then when they ask for yours send them michael jackson, or kris akabussi (spelling?) and then string it out for as long as you can! once lasted a month of emails back and fore to some bloke in Nigeria who wanted to send me muhunies that i had inherited from a great great great uncle from over there... i think i blew it though when I told him I dont have a bank account and needed the money sent out to me a single euro at a time to avoid import taxes and that i lived at Buckingham palace, london. I miss him...he was my friend.... ..... he called me sir

Well done Coedy,
I have spent many months doing the same to an unfortunate Prince Macahumba Katanga Katanga Ohspa from a small African country.
After realising however that the person who cuts my grass was fleeing tyranny in the outer reaches of the Kingdom of Clydach, he sent a large amount of monies into my account.
I have thanked the Lord that he had saved his soul by this gesture and will as soon as possible provide him (God willing) with a passport, several thousands of pounds and a lavish home in Splott, Cardiff.
Although I do find it ironic that whilst in Live Aid 1985 and cheering Queen the monies I gave would eventually allow this Prince to communicate with me!!

Anyway, soliciting? Isn't that another word for prostitution? So 'soliciting for your assistance' surely he means he's offering himself to you Phil? Yes I think he wants to be your sex slave? But what will Corina say? ;D
