i found the daily mail today dated, june/17/89, under the floor boards in a shop in weston! minis 30 birthday! wel you know me by know! stright to the motoring pages! lol  yeah i know my scanners poo! |

Anyway I feel old. I was into Minis back then (all my life really) and I was at the Mini 30 bash @ Silverstone too. Rover were great as it was free entry if you turned up in a Mini and that went for all your passengers too. If you turned up in anything else it was only a quid each, but even then under 16's got in for free.
Compare that to this years BMW Mini United @ Silverstone.
Oh and isn't it nice seeing a real Mini classed as a new Mini.

So never mind about the history Irish, I was there and part of the history because I was in the middle of that massive track cavalcade (again free to enter). So I had a quick blast around the track, or at least not right around because after a few bends we came to a solid wall of Minis 5 or more cars wide spanning the whole track. The Police weren't amused by the traffic jams caused afterwards and so they were never allowed to repeat it again. But I've still got the news reports showing the amount of real Minis lining the track when the helicopters went over. Very happy days.  |
