Supercharger. Just say the word and feel the magical way it rolls off your tongue. It is one of the coolest and most effective performance upgrades you can have on a car. JonSpeed claims power improvements of up to 60 per cent from its basic supercharger kits, with power delivery starting down low in the rev range so you feel the effects even under normal driving conditions.
JonSpeed’s supercharger ‘Kit 1’ is compatible with 998cc, 1098cc and 1275cc up to 1380cc. To run a supercharger on the A-Series engine, the compression ratio needs to be reduced to 8:1. This can be done by using dished pistons, along with a modified combustion chamber in the cylinder head, or through the use of a decompression plate, of which JonSpeed makes in 3cc, 6cc and 9cc for 1275+ engines and 3cc for 998 engines.
