My back lights aint working, or my headlights, sidelights, front indicators, fog light
Back indicators are working and the flash for headlights are aswell
I checked the fuse and i put a 20amp in and it was broke so i changed it. then i tried again and still no luck so i checked the fuse again and it was really hot but not broke. Does this mean there is a wire connected wrong somewhere

Ive got blade type fuses as well.
headlight switch can only be connected one way because of the shape of the harness? and brake sensor wire shouldn't make that much difference? does your heater work?

I would check all the wires behind the grill first, Did you play with them at all when fitting the new lights? the brake pedal wires are an easy check, small switch on the brake pedal itself

hmmm.... was wondering if you managed to wire the fusebox arse backwards or something but if the heater and wipers are working then it must be behind the grille or possibly a damaged wire/bad earth somewhere... this could be a pain...

Unless your Mini is older than 1976, or younger than 1996, then it probably has a fuse box like the one above? Here's the actual wiring colours: - 4 Fuse box wiring colours: -
White - Green Brown - Purple Light Green/White - Light Green/Orange Red - Red/GreenThis should help too: - Oh and I'm told blade fuses have a different rating to glass fuses. So check out this thread for more information: - www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=117140&hl=blade+fuse

Tested the brake lights by the bulb and there is no power there so it must be something before that

Try replacing the headlamp switch and then see how it goes after that?
What state are the bullet connectors behind the grille?: -
Earth is the Black wires Sidelights are Red/Red with Green Headlights are thick Blue with Red Main Beam thick Blue with White
Also the rear contacts of the main fuse box can get very corroded with age and that can then throw up problems itself.
I was amazed how well my indicators and other electrics like the horn worked after I replaced my rusty original for a brand new fuse box.
I coated the rear contacts in Vaseline first so they don't rust out again any time soon. Just don't use copper grease though.
The standard Minis (non-injection) electrics are generally pretty straightforward and any problems are usually down to something simple.

As for the wipers, the wiper motor park-switch can cause real problems when it fails too. So consider changing it, especially if your wipers had stopped parking themselves before your current problems manifested: -
