To start with I will apologise for the long boring story. I was out in the mini last night. I drove over to Neath Tesco's from Port Talbot and the car ran fine had a little race with a KA and left him for dust or spray as it was raining lol. parked up in Neath for a little bit.But when I went to drive him again the idle was really low on it and and even with my foot flat to the floor it would rev more the 3K and really didn't have any power and was misfiring an back firing galore. after a very slow drive I pulled over in Baglan and Decided to investigate so i switched the car off checked all ht leads and checked the air filter. would have checked the water and oil but had really poor lighting so didn't any ways I started the car again and it drove fine how bizarre is that.

Damp getting to the HT leads perhaps? When were they and the spark plugs last replaced?
Being an MPi Mini means you shouldn't have the old damp dizzy problems?

sounds like leads, if you were pushing it (having a dabble) after not using it very often the leads may have broken down a bit, then they cooled funny..meaning its pooey driving.. then you fiddled with them while they were warm and fixed it....
maybe?

Yeah I'm going to keep an eye on it. I'll replace the leads next pay day. um the sparkies were put in a years ago? were cleaned a few months ago tho when I did my tappets. I thought it wierd it was fine after stopping. I reckon it's got a mind of it's own and is just playing with me haha. fingers crossed it will be alright for the run tomorrow

NGK BPR6ES Spark Plugs are what you need and replace them every 12,000 miles.
Then it's unlikely you'll have any problems.
You can get them from Halfords too and their quite cheap, but effective.
