hey hey so this time the mini is throwing another challange which I cannot seem to solve. this is the story. after having a nice big oil leek i was showing to a friend of mine, i went to lower the bonet down to the realise that it would not catch into the locking mechanism. has anybody else ever experienced this problem and does anybody have any solutions for this? ive tried to extend the locking pin thing but it doesnt seem to budge??? anybody?

i just had this prob, take the grill off lower the bonnet and have a look if the pin is lined up with the hole on the locking plate
if its out try bending it either to the right or the left or mayby back or forward to line it up
failing that have a look if the return spring is still attatched

the big spike on the end of the bonnet (that goes in the hole) should have a ruddy great big spring on it. spin the spring around a few time (cant remember which way, so trail and error) then try it again.
Mine does this every so often. its just a case that the spring is too compressed so wont let the spike drop far enough to catch...
either that or like Gar said possibly the mechanism has moved slightly.
