Since Molly's in the garage still, waiting on parts I've been driving around in the owners Rover 25. Slightly newer than the mini, at first I didnt like it, but tbh the ease of driving it has started to grow on me. So smooth and comfortable in comparasin, and fifth gear is a real treat lol Anyone else had this experience, driving something other than a mini for a while? I'm not saying I wont go back, heck it'll be refreshing to get back in a proper car, but I do really like the 25 now. Not a bad looking car either, always thought the one down from the ZR was really mean looking from the front I'll try and get a pic up tomorrow, bit dark now lol. Since its probably going back tomorrow and I'm back in the mini with any luck! ;D

Yes I've driven loads of modern cars and let my Mini gather dust in the garage for some 3 years because I'd lost interest in the Mini scene and didn't have the cash to get it running again. But getting back into the Mini after modern cars is like a breath of fresh air. The manoeuvrability, the go anywhere go-kart feel and handling. The noise, the firm ride, plus feeling like a youngster again. So no, there's nothing like a Mini for making me smile, laugh and feel great. Mind you remind me about this thread at the end of the Month after mine has had it's MOT.

had a rover 25 ourselves before + got a 200 at moment which basically exactly the same car + do luv driveing it, have to admit it handles better than my tank " the delica " but not as many toys as my delica has. no electric roof blinds, blown heating + air con in back etc etc etc lol. nothing compares to the thrill of driveing a mini though

i drive my parents car quiet often and quickly get used to the comfort etc but its the worst handling car ever so i get back in the mini and feel safer
if im going on a long run around country roads i'll choose the mini mainly for the fun factor but also im less likely to end up in a hedge
altho i like the cooper i still cant wait to get back in my old mini, those sports packs are rubbish, wheels that tramline the handling is awful due the extra unsprung weight and the steering lock is terrible but saying that i still prefer the cooper over most modern cars

Got Molly back last night, and it was weird at first, mainly cause of the bus like steering wheel lol. Good to be back though, although I disagree with you Ijonez, I love my cooper sportspack. I've driven rhys's mk2 hydro on 10"s, and I much preferred the stiffer feel of mine. And its better than Amys mini, cant beat the extra tyre width see Yeah it tramlines a bit now and then, but its more fun to drive then, gotta stay alive hehe. Couldnt get a pic of the 25 I had because of the rain, but I found one identical on the web, so its all good!

Yea as most of you know I drive a 'euro box' most of the time ( sold as a mitibushi colt) It has been likened to a boat by coedy & hightower, but I dont really notice that! I do enjoy driving our sportspack tho..when I'm allowed! lol As soon as I sit in it I start grinning (& driving) like an idiot!! ;D ;D The worse bit is trying to adjust the seat (cos my little legs are shorter than everyoe elses!) but it feels more 'responsive' somehow - you know what I mean? foot down & we're away!!

it is like a boat you dont feel connected to the road at all! and when you tickle the brake pedal you get chucked through the windscreen!

I've had the whole range 25,45,600 and 75. All turbo diesels, all great fun to drive, fast and economical.Only got rid of the 75 five weeks ago-bought a Suzuki SX 4,1.9 turbo diesel. It's not a patch on any of the Rovers!!!No torque whatever and the turbo takes ages to cut in,especially in 5th.& 6th. gears.

Oooh! I had a GREAT turbo diesel - ford focus estate!! I had a little dabble with a young lad in a subaru impreza off the lights in swansea left him standing so I was told "ok you've had your fun leave it there" (by Gwyn he's no fun sometimes ) Of course the kid floored it & ran off, followed by a police car with blue lights, who stopped him about 3/4 mile down the road. We passed him arguing with the police man on the pavement - I had a little chuckle I can tell you ;D ;D
