Car still not running right.

changed back the coil and leads and still the same.

good sconsistant spark at the points,.

seems to be a stronger petrol smell under the bonnet.


car will tick over at idle but as soon as it's revved it cuts out,

also needs a new throttle cable as mine has now mysteriously snapped. ( i didnt stamp my foot in frustration honest )


Car is now back outside my house. and there she can sit until i find inspiration to investigate more

Check the float on the carb, It could be worn or stuck

Stripped the carb this afternoon with Phil, we both seem to feel that its a fueling problem.

Plugs were black and sooted up, with no smell of fuel.

float on carb works fine but somehow seems like fuel not going through the carb

check you haven't bent the needle ( even a little bit ) in the carb

My dad said to check the oil level in the dash pot and to try running the engine on slight choke and check if it revs ok then.

Dug out 2 carbs for you to try, managed to find them ok even with the blured vision and lungs full of petrol
