Sad day, sad day passed the local Fiat dealers today, very nice purple mini cooper, 'T' reg, sportspack alloys, leather interior, magnolia clocks etc, etc, I'm not that hot on the later mini models but definately a MK VI or VII.
Went to ask the guy in the sales place as I waiting there he had a phone call asking about the Mini, this is the general run of conversation,
"we haven't got a MINI .........the old one.......sorry it's under the scrappage scheme and will have to crushed" after he put the phone down he turned to the guy with him and said that's the fourth call today I'll be glad when it's crushed"..
Asked if he could help me, so made my excuses that I was interested in the new Panda and walked away with a Panda brochure, sad, very sad day.
P.S Panda a nice car was £6995 before the scarppage deals were announced, now £7999 after scrappage, someone's having a laugh.

I think it's J&J Suzuki - Fiat dealer on the A48 on the dual carrigeway just after the Porthcawl turn off and before the Laleston, Bridgend roundabout. Used to be a Little Chef and petrol station on both sides (for those with a longer memory)
I believe that the 'salvage rule' means full car crushing and given the attitude of the guy I doubt if you would get any details of where its going or when, but it's worth a try.

Noted the Mini had gone today, I belive it went to JAB 93 in Bridgend. Spoke to the guy there who believes Mini's are worth thousand (only in Mini 50 year) so any bits maybe on inflated prices.
He did say he has scrapped a few on the scrappage scheme.
Please read (and follow the link and sign) my other post on scrappage petition.

Sometimes this country makes me want to turn my head away in shame. Okay that was a quote about the Doctor (Dr Who) as said by Gwen in the recent Torchwood story. But you get the picture.

SCRAPPAGE SCHEME EXTENDED
Following the success of the car scrappage scheme in the UK, Gordon Brown is set to reveal a radical extension of the plan as part of his controversial healthcare reforms. Under the new scheme, unofficially titled ‘Cash For Old "censored"s’, Britons will be able to trade in their troublesome elderly relatives and receive a brand new child at a significantly reduced cost.
“This is a great way to get old, inefficient people off the streets,” said No.10 spokesman Jack Badgerburger. “Elderly people pollute the air with their meandering and pointless stories about the old days whilst also making your couch smell of pee. With this new scheme Britons can finally get rid of that annoying grandfather or great aunt and replace it with a clean new baby”.
Even so, critics of the new proposal aren’t limited to gimlet eyed lunatics on mainstream news channels. Some relatively normal people have been quick to point out the flaws inherent in the new plan too. “It’s all well and good taking these elderly people off the streets but what are we going to do with them then?” demanded Luanne Monkeyburger of the action group Mothers For Firing Off Guns Into The Air For No Readily Apparent Reason. “I worry that many people will be throwing away a perfectly good grandmother or kindly uncle and, as I understand it, once an old person has been taking in against a new child they cannot be sold on, even though many families may be able to make good use of a serviceable grandma with her stories about the 1940s and her ready supply of weird candy you can’t find in stores any more”.
