automatics?

hi all

got the opportunity to buy a mini mayfair the body has gone but im looking to strip the parts and put the engine in the shell we have here, only thing is the engine is a 1.3auto from a 1986 metro, i have no idea what automatics are like or how reliable they are any ideas?

They can be great fun to drive, but if anything goes wrong with them they can be VERY expensive to put right, try to make sure it drives ok before going through the hassle of swapping the engine, If there is any slipping when trying to pull away I would forget it

believe reverse gear prone to going on the boxes as heard a few horror stories but the 1 we just sold was fine thankgod
