Hey Guys and gals, This is my project post for my 1987 mini city E I purchased the car off ebay for the sum of £600, In october 2008 as my first car, and gave myself til july 2009 to get it completed. I am currently working as an apprentice mechanic and rarely have time to work on the car... Any way, here go's The car when I picked it up from birmingham, It had no MOT and TAX and had been sitting for 2 years, the waterpump had collapsed and had all the usual rust! And here are some pics in the daylight of the car More updates to come.....

Update... The first job was to fix the waterpump and get the car running mechanincally sound, as this would be my first car, i wanted to keep it reliable. then was the rust!!!! :S:S:S the previous owner had managed to use waaaaay to much filler and bathroom sealer :S on the car, so the first job was to cut all this out, and have a look at the rust underneath, Then came the re-filling.... Front wing...

Update, well after I had realised how much rust was all over the car, I had a dilema, 1. sort the rust out and touch up the areas. 2. Sort the rust and do a full Re-spray, (all though cost is a big issue) So after a lot of thinking and a chat to the guy in "Car Paints" Bridgend, the cheapest and best option for me and my mini was to Coach Paint the car. My father, My brother and myself would set aside 2 week to get the car sorted, Masked up and painted. All in all the paint job cost £100, An i decided to go with the white roof. So heres the pictures...

That looks a fairly tidy project to begin with. How many coats are you going to apply and are you flatting between coats.?
