 Ruby#s head gasket went yesterday and i dont know whether i will be able to get away with just changing it. has anyone got a cheap engine that i could just drop in as i wanted to do Pembs county run tommorow as i have missed it forthe past three years was absolutely gutted yesterday when it happened and dont know if it will be done in time if anyone is near milford haven and can help me in some way i will be very grateful, thanks

i have been given a head that i think might jyust do it, gunna crack on with it now and hopefully have it done and out this afternoon, i dont car how far round i make it aslong as i get of the start line!

just take it easy once its all done as you wont have run it in enough to re-torque it (obviously)

all done! how long should i run it for before re torquein the head? its running quite sweet now bit of smoke but i think thats just the oil burning off of the manifold.
il be leaving the start line. im mite have to take a few short cuts to pass the steep hills tho! lol

Good work.  The head should be re-torqued after about 100 miles. The run tomorrow won't be belting around anyway, so take your time and you should be ok. Good luck. |

sorry to hear of your troubles minimadman. My radiator cap broke off in my hand as I went to check my water ready for tomorrow and I toatally panicked !! I nearly lost it and there you are with a major engine problem !! Thank god Halfords had one in stock otherwise I woudnt be going tomorrow. I would have been gutted, Good luck and hope you make it OK.
