have no idea on cost but i'd imagine it will be down to how far you want to go, enlarged chambers bigger valves etc etc might be worth haveing a look at this www.popularhotrodding.com/enginemasters/articles/hardcore/0602em_cylinder_head_porting/index.htmlhaven't read it myself but was told it was a good read so its been in my bookmarks since but personaly if your sticking to the standard 998 head? don't bother with polishing it, it takes alot of work to get it to flow well, best bet is to save your money and keep an eye out for a 12g295 (cooper) head.

If I do find one I still have the cost of decking the block and skimming the head don't I ? I wish it did actually grow on trees lol

with the 12g295 you just need to skim the head (the 12g940 requires the block to be pocketed) abit to raise the compression ratio, wont cost much and is money alot better spent than on the standard head, you may be able to find one already skimmed as its a popular mod.

Hello mate, I'm in the same boat as you, I Asked a chap about having my head done and he said it's between 350-1350 depending on what spec I wanted the head lol. I bought a book, and read a few things about diy'ing it. I have a cracked head that i am goign to practise on then I will give the really thing a bash if I'm confident but I will do mine first to see if I get a good result. I have a spare 998cc that i was planning to do work on. so if I get good results from mine I would be mre than happy to do work on one for you + I have spoken to a chap in Swansea that will reseat valve and do the guides for a good price .
