Hi all, As you may be aware I started a petition on the Number 10 website to stop cars of Heritage being part of the scrappage scheme. petitions.number10.gov.uk/Mini-scrappage/Now I’m thinking of taking it a stage further and handing in the petition to Number 10 with hopefully a few classic cars in tow. Is anyone in the club up for this, towards the end of this month (October)? I’m in contact with the editor of Classic Car weekly who wants the same and should help in getting more cars there. I know that the Tonight programme is covering the scrappage scheme and sure they would be there to cover our view point Mark

If you get the opertunity,I'd recommend going up on the last weekend of October as its the Veteran car London to Brighton run. This is the worlds oldest motoring event, and the newest car doing the run dates from pre 1905!!! the sight of these wonderful machines in Hyde park at day break is spectacular. Also on the Saturday their is a concours display in Regents street.

That sounds like a great plan and would make the trip even more worth while I'm sure the tv camera's would like that too

I'm still waiting to hear from Classic Car Weekly as time is ticking, things have suddenly dried up on this count.
It also has to be arranged via Number 10 before the event and only six people are allowed in Downing Street (vetted by Police).
I hope to know for sure after the weekend if Classic car weekly are coming and if so look at fixing some dates.

Okay had replies back from Classic Car Weekly and they are not up for anything now, they are just saying to contact a local MP (which is a little weak).
The Tonight show are also not going to cover it as "schedules are too tight" people maybe aware of new member Ian Bendalow who joined a week or so ago he's the researcher from ITV and joined to contact us.
I had contacted Downing Street and had a date penciled in but have cancelled this as I don't think going up will provide coverage for the club or petition as previously hoped and will be a waste of effort for members.
Good response and effort from SWM though.

It's a shame CCW can't support you with your petition handing over Mark. I'd have thought they would be more than up for it, after all, it's not just the classic Mini this petition is all about, but all classics. To try and boost the the names on the petition list i have put a link up on another Forum a while ago. Your efforts should not be in vain so the more names on the petition the better.

As expected and whatever bunch of monkey's are running the country, they'd all do the same as their all just a complete waste of time. Unfortunately classic car lovers are a minority and how can we win when everyone is happy to pay extortionate prices for petrol and diesel? We're all pacifists living in ripp-off Britain and we're all doomed. Oh well at least Xmas is coming.

At least we had a reply, as less than 500 signed they normally just send a stock 'thanks for signing email'.
It maybe starting to worm its way in, well not letting it rest have already drafted a letter to a few MP's.
