After getting some plates welded onto my rear wheel arches for the MOT, I've been busy cleaning up the boot area and refitting the fuel tank (they didn't put it back in place right). They did a good job at welding, but they sprayed a load of black gooey underseal on the wheel arches inside the boot. I don't mind it being on the N/S as the fuel tank hides that (plus I've sprayed a load of Waxyol in that area too). But I'm not keen on having all that black stuff thrown over the O/S, because it doesn't look nice and any bags or deck chairs that come in contact with it are going to get some black gooey stuff on them too. So can I remove most of it with white spirit? Or is something else better? I'd rather see a light coating of clear Waxoyl in that area as opposed to that black mess.

I believe whitespirit will take it off, though you will have to watch the paint under it! Petrol may even take it off, and shouldn't (in theory) damage the paint either...

Thanks, I'll give them both a try.
