Any one remember the Swansea and District Jallopy Racing Club started early to mid 1970 Started life in a pub in Skewen as cheap and cheerfull racing for the working man. The first track was in Rhydypanndy then it was moved down to the dog track in Fforest fach. It had a short life as the rules and regs grew it became unaffordable for most of us. This is a picture of me the car was a joint venture and on the road 2 days previously. There were 3 or 4 of use Archie (llansamlet), me Tony (portmead), Dai (townhill), maybe another Dai (Cadle)

Ahhh, those were the days. I used to go down to the Greyhound track regularly to watch the Jalopies. When The Autograss name came into being the cars started to get serious with V8 lumps in small saloons. Drivers wouldn't bat an eyelid at spending 10K on an Autograss car today. I think the fun factor has gone out of the sport, sadly.

We went to see Minis autograss racing whilst on holiday in Tenby back in 2002.
It cost us quite a sum just to get in and at least the sort of money you'd pay for a pricey Mini show.
Still enjoyed it though, even if all the dust meant we couldn't see a lot.
