We had to take Dominic (our 10 year old son) for a music exam today in Cardiff. We don't go there very often, but something odd has happened and everything is now different, because there's loads of new skyscraper apartment blocks everywhere, there's the new St David's 2 Shopping Centre, oh and all the road priorities have changed.
So that left us totally confused and going around in circles. So me and Dominic just jumped out of the car and legged it to the music shop where his exam was to take place, whilst Marie and baby Evie went off to park the car (amazingly the new multi-storey car-park by John Lewis isn't too expensive).
Trouble is in my head (and Marie's as it turned out) that music shop was near the Cardiff Castle end of St Mary Street (by that toy/model shop called 'Antics'). So after running one end of Cardiff (we started off close to WHSmiths on Queen Street) I was horrified to find that shop was 'Cranes' and we wanted 'Gamblyns'.
They were nice enough tell us that Gamblyns was at the other end of St Mary Street and so we eventually got there and just in time. Oh and Marie got it wrong too as she turned up at Cranes and panicked, but I think I panicked more as neither of us had our mobile's.
Right well apart from that we found ourselves in Debenhams and M&S afterwards and my God have they both got a fantastic collection of Mini related stuff to sell.
I was selective as we've already got R/C Minis, but I couldn't resist the little Corgi models, or the model that comes with a DVD (I hope I haven't already got the DVD, but I don't care as the model is nice).
I also had a tough choice as Debenhams had the Haynes Mini model kit in red, where as M&S had the white version. I bought the white one as I've got lots of red Minis already.
I did fancy the Mini alarm clock, but I didn't want to push my luck. Although I hope they'll still have some left in the after Xmas sales (unlikely).
So keep away from Debenhams and M&S folks, because the temptation is too strong.
;D
