Hey all, i am planning on completely stripping my cooper and either getting the shell sand or soda blasted, which is best and does anyone know anywhere local that can do either?

soda is not as harsh as sand/grit but you really dont want to use either on any thing other than the floor.

Agree with LJ on this one.. There is another "stripping" method that is being used lately which involves burning the paint etc off the car. Even with that method i'd be concerned about the larger panels on a Mini being damaged somehow. There's a firm in Porthyrhyd (between Cross Hands - Carmarthen) that does a Blasting service. Might be worth a chat with him to see what he recommends. 01267 275316 Found this place as well. JC Shotblasting. He does car body shells. 01994 484600. Between Carmarthen and Newcastle Emlyn.

There's a company in glos somewhere (I think it was) that do the 'Dipping' service. Dunks the car in huge vats of different ratio acids for you so that things dont get warped.
Think I saw it in practical classics last month when flicking through it in tesco's...

Soda blasting is fine on bodywork and doesn't distort panels. There is one on Frost restorations for about £260 all in and works on something like 80ft/lb and the soda leaves a fine coating on the panels which prevents flash rust..
