Okay the theme tune isn't much cop (for God sake someone shoot that woman trying to sing please), but the series itself was pretty good and one of the best things shown on the telly back in the mid 1980's.
Okay spoiler alert, but it was 8 hour long episodes and was about a bored housewife who after a road rage incident where she showed up some young un's in her old Mini and enjoyed the adrenalin rush/thrill. She decides that she'd really like to have a stab at professional motor racing.
Her friends think she's gone mad and her husband laughs in her face. So due to that she's all the more determined to make a go at it and get her Mini converted into a full racing car.
It's not the most likely of events to happen, especially when the cynical and slightly unfriendly garage owner (he comes good in the end though) and ex-racing driver who offers to support her dream points out all the negative aspects like just how much it's all going to cost.
She's still determined and she pretty much sells everything her family owns and risks terrible debts and lots of other pitfalls occur along the way like the Mini which was almost ready to roll gets stolen at one point and damaged.
But she still goes for it and I won't say any more other than they really gave the show away when they called the final episode 'A Class Of Their Own'.
You can find out more information about the programme here and as luck would have it I now have the complete series (thanks to trading a few DVDr copies) on a DVDr disc (3 in fact) from when it got repeated on UKGold back around 1992: -

Oh and the actual racing Mini belonged to Peter Baldwin and even Stirling Moss was involved (although only in an advisory capacity) and his name appears on the end credits too.
