Up until now I haven't put our car in this section as we haven't done anything to it, unfortunately the metal moth has been busy so we need a 'facelift'. Took the car down to Mike at AutoSmart for an estimate a couple of weeks ago & he said we needed: new wings a panels scuttle front panel bonnet sills doorskins & a repair somewhere by the petrol tank(?) GULP! Soooo we took our 'pride & joy' down this morning & left him with Mike to repair & paint  Mike said he would update us as he 'cut him up (!)' so here goes! Here are some 'before' pics they aren't taken close up so he looks pretty good(but believe me when you look close it looks a bit sad)      |

long list of panels, mine is exactly the same.
its a shame the mpi's are such rust buckets. they would be pretty good cars if it wernt for the rust issues
will be great to see when finished, mine is just getting cut up instead as i cant afford all the panels etc

Make sure you get the whole lot waxoiled, that stuff will keep the rust away for longer.
Hope you get it back by the SWM show, mines just had bodywork done so they'll sparkle next to eachother!

just a little update to this thread sorry its been a bit slow but i lost the camera lead lol      as you can see there was a little more tin worm than could been seen from the outside more pics soon watch this space |

lol its not till you start pulling bits off and you dunno were its going to stop. You cant really see how bad it is in the first pics, are you sure mike is working on the same car? It will be a good job if it comes back like mine, very happy. All Mike needs to do is finish his own minis now.

i had mine done with mike,those pics bring back a few nightmares,i had to reshell mine but mike did a brilliant job- vb

as far as mpi's go its not in that bad shape. i take it the studs for the arches just pulled out of the arch because the nuts where rusted on
