Hi guys!
I need some help. My other halfs mini died this morning! Over the last few days it developed a flat spot on acceleration, basically a lack of power. However if you pulled the choke out it worked ok. But this morning it wouldnt fire up! Whats the crack? Dodgy fuel pump? Dirty Carb bits?
Any advice would be good. Im fairly handy with a spanner and also have the haynes manual!
Many thanks in advance!

mine was playing up a bit like that over the weekend...she wouldnt idle unless you pulled out the choke and was coughing and spluttering....tracked it down to the points wernt making a good contact at the rotor arm...ie it had moved away from them....so maybe try looking at that???

It sounds like a fuel problem. I'm not sure what carb you're using but i would hazard a guess at either a HS 4 or a HIF 38 or 44. Sounds like there's muck in the carb which has now blocked the JET, Or muck in the Fuel bowl which could have blocked the entry to the jet. If the carb is a HS type SU take off the top of the fuel bowl first. If there is no fuel in it then maybe there's a bit of muck blocking the inlet. (needle valve). Or the fuel pump may be u/s. If there's fuel in the bowl then there could be a blockage in the jet. A quick blast with an airline usually cures that one. Check to see if there's any oil in the top of the carb. IE in the dashpot. Also check all the linkages for the cables etc have not come loose.. Hope this helps.
