Hi Gaz, It isn't an easy job. Are you welding in the complete panel or only the end sections?. From experience, you will have to make sure you have the exact position of the rear subframe in relation to any nearby existing bodywork which isn't going to be chopped out. before you drop the subframe!!!. Then you drop the subframe, line up the new panels, preferably using bolts throgh the new panel into the old and then mark where you need to cut out the old steel, or rust whatever the case may be. WARNING, do not go silly with the grinder, cut out less than you have to, then slowly file or grind the remaining metal off until you get a nice snug joint for welding. You could also bolt the new panels to the subframe mounts bash the subframe into its correct position and then mark out. There isn't an easy way I'm afraid, unless somebody on the forum knows an easier way.

Why dont you make life much easier for yourself and buy the complete section, i work and repair minis everyday and there is no way i would ever change just 2 sides, as you can guarantee that no matter how good your marks are, by the time it is welded then its gonna pull in with the heat and the subframe wont fit. let us know how it goes, or if you need the complete section give the mini shop a ring on 01792 881 500.
