When changing your rusty bumpers for new ones, 1st waxoyl or underseal the inside of the new bumper before fitting.
You cannot see anything when it is in place on the Mini and the new bumpers will last much much longer before the dreaded tin worm can get a grip on them again.

Unlike the ones on Gerty, the captive bits just broke off!!!

Had that happen to me too! Got round the problem by drilling a hole where the captive studs used to be and then using a 'largish' self tapper to secure the bumper to the bodywork. Once done cannot be seen and if you use stainless self tappers theres no problem removing or refitting the bumper in the future. Hope this helps
