Before fitting new wooden door capping's or dashboards check to see if the material has been sealed against moisture ingress on the rear.
If the material is not sealed give it 2 or 3 coats of wood varnish or primer and let it dry for a day or two before fitting.
Condensation on the inside of Mini windows (they all do!) will run down the glass and soak into any unprotected wood or MDF and when it dries out the capping's or dash will swell up and splits will appear.
Found this one out the hard way.......
