I am going to try and fit a new pair of sills to my weekend warrior and need to know can i just spot weld them on and would that be ok for the mot? thanks Aston

When the Minis come from the factory the Sills are spot welded. I've put my cars through MOTs with spot welded sills and ready for the "What do you call this" from the inspector. My answer would be as above. Factory Spec welding. But sadly ,they've never asked me. As for PLUG welding, it's fairly straightforward. There's a How to do it, on sill replacement in one of the Mini mags. I'll see if i can dig it out. It s easier than trying to explain everything on here.

I found the said article in Mini Magazine August 2007. Looks fairly informative. Only problem is, How am i going to upload 4 pages.?? I know, I've just had a brainwave.

It wasn't there. Went to Mini mag website to see if i could download the article from there, but i Can't find it. Bug**r. Will have to try scanning it now.
