there are loads of mini specialist insurance firms out there, we with peter james, adrian flux, mini world all good etc stateyou with swm minis + might well get a discount, make sure you get agreed value though otherwise they will give you pennies for your classic car mate should you have a bump

Get agreed value like boycie said! book price for most non limited edition Minis is only around £300. meaning that if you have to claim to get something done that costs more than £150 (including labour and paint and parts etc) they will try and write it off....
Im with Footman&James. Can't fault them really (yet) they were the cheapest for me by about £300 when i first took it out.
You could get a classic policy which could be cheaper? but then you wont gain any no claims discount...
mentioning the club may get you 10% off in some places.
Other ones I have heard are good are: PD James. Adrian Flux. Carol Nash. Performance Direct. Mini world (or mini mag... cant remember which one...)
But it will involve lots of phoning around. compare the market etc will be useless because most companies on there wont allow agreed values... Agreed value is a Must.

But if a claim had to go through the insurance (like if the other party filed a claim) your Mini would still get written off? Even if it is just a 'economical' write of and you 'bought the car back' and got it fixed at your garage you may need an inspection then before your able to get it insured/mot'd again (depending on the damage etc)? That's a lot of hassle to go through when all it takes is 10minutes filling out a form and sending off some Photo's when the policy comes through. Also if it gets nicked you will get £300 back if you don't have agreed value. If its agreed value and you know the price it would sell for was around £1400 or whatever you put on the form at the start of the policy then you would get the full £1400 back... There are really No advantages to not having Agreed Value.

how much would i be looking at roughly ? 20 years old 2 years no claims . no points depends alot on where you live, if its garaged if you use it to comute, where its parked during the day, of course engine size and mods etc etc etc when i was 20 (4 years ago) i was paying a bit less than £400 on a stage 1 998cc but i know prices have rocketed since then. your best bet is to get on the phone and get some quotes

I agree about 'Agreed Value' and no real Mini is properly insured without it now.
However younger drivers aren't always eligible for agreed value and some classic insurers won't accept younger drivers either which is a shame because I'm sure most would cherish a classic more than a modern chav mobile.
So even if you're very careful, you'll still lose out when some moron rear ends you.
That's why it pays to ring around and I'm currently with Mini Magazine Insurance, which is via Performance Direct on a policy with Equity Redstar.
I'm almost 43 years old and my Mini policy with agreed value isn't notching up NCB though, but it's very affordable and my Mini is well covered.
It might sound daunting right now, but I've had a bump or two and the agreed value made all the difference and saved a hell of a lot of hassle.

Yeah there were no problems whatsoever. I didn't even register as a TMF+ member either, but I still got my membership number.
