OK just out of interest............... For those of you out there that DO polish your Classic pride & joys, .......... What polishes have you used & would recommend? What polishes have you used & would never use again? What polishes have you heard about but never used? Years ago I used to use the dreaded 'Turtle Wax' (do they still make it now?) which was very good but left lots of white dust behind. Since I've had 1380 I have always used Autoglym and find it to be the best. Have tried Maguires but thought it was expensive rubbish! and we needed a new thread in this Bodywork section as I was tired of seeing that BINI lovers name staring at me!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D jc

i find that this stuff i bought the other day is pretty good , its not a wax is called " shine in a bottle" or something , made my demon. can get it in helfrauds but its much cheaper in asda! it looks girly as its bright pink but it does shine the car up well. it doesnt make ur car look pink btw ! i just wash the car with turtle wax triple wash ... then wait for the car to dry abit , spray on the demon shine and wipe with a micropibre cloth and you car will be all dry n shiney

I'm using the Turtle Wax at the moment to add the layers, but your right about the dust Will be on the Autoglym when the Turtle Wax bites the dust ;D All the garages I've worked for use Autoglym, so I've only ever used this and the Turtle Wax

I used to use MER for years, but it produced loads of white powder and streaks under sun light.
So I now prefer Autoglym too because it works well and smells nice (not that I drink it).
I haven't tried Mequires though.

Often seen the Mer being demo'd at shows, normally on a red classic Mini bonnet, but never got round to trying it myself
Have you tried autoglym TAFF?
Is mer better?

Well i usually use 800 grit, then 1200, then 1600 grit. Then i use the compounding mop with some cutting compound, chuck a bucket of water over it and finally give it a good leathering. The job's a GOOD UN. Finito.
