I had a wicked day out. I got asked by one the officals if I wanted to drive my mini around on the parade lap. I did, amongst a load of Binis lol. We were the only classic mini on the parade and people were waving etc at us and one bloke shouted "atleast you have got heritage" which made us smile.

Blinding weekend. Burnt to a crisp as is the norm after being down Pembrey. Arrived on Friday evening and set up camp with the Sheepspeed crew. Cracked open a brew or 2 then headed for the clubhouse as you do. Early start on Saturday so set about sorting the Mig. Decided to change the front arches because the old ones were a bit,.....uummmm... battlescarred. The Nissan 370Z that Endaf was "guest" driving on the weekend. Talk about Little and Large. They start em young in Wales. Endafs 18 month old Jac telling his dad where to put the jack. Endaf qualified 3rd on the grid for both the Miglia races, but his time was about half a second down compared to his times during testing a fortnight ago........ Strange. Saturdays race started well with Endaf in the lead going into Hacketts hairpin after a demon start. He opened up a decent lead from the squabbling pack behind him, but was being hauled in due to his lack of speed on the long back straight. He held his own on the tighter sections of the circuit but was eventually passed with just over a lap to go. Endaf finished 2nd behind Kane Astin, but post race weigh-in revealed that the winner was 3kgs underweight. AStin was disqualified and Endaf was promoted to 1st place. "I'd rather win fair and square" was Endafs response, but the 20 points was very handy for the championship.

After the race the team set about sorting the Mig for Sundays race. We couldn't find anything wrong in the engine department and were still puzzled as to the lack of power on the straights. We pulled a front hub off and re-greased a suspect bearing which was causing a minor brake problem, gave the Mig a nut n bolt check reset the steering geometry and headed for the clubhouse. Thirsty work all this Miglia racing lark. ;D We were treated to a Freddie Mercury tribute who looked suspiciously like Endaf, but then again, it could have been the copious amounts of alcohol that was being necked. Sundays mammoth effort. Endaf had another good start and was 2nd coming out of Hacketts hairpin. 4 laps later he was in the lead and started opening up a good lead. Strangely, he had more pace than Saturdays race and kept the lead until about a lap and a half from the chequered flag until, when changing from 3rd to 4th gear on the back straight Endaf heard an almighty bang and rather than completely wreck the engine switched the motor off and freewheeled into the pits into retirement. Gutted, that's how everyone felt, but Endaf was chuffed to get a new lap record (for Miglias) which now stands at under 66 seconds. Chasing down the leader. In the lead on lap 5. Still in the lead on lap 7. That's a back marker ahead. Endaf was supposed to have 3 races in the Nissan Tank, but broke the rear suspension during qualifying on Saturday. The owners had the part delivered from Oxford by Saturday evening so the "Tank" was fit to race on Sunday. Endaf got up to 5th place before the ECU put the engine into "Limp Mode" when it got a bit hot.. Due to the handicapping system Endaf started from pole in the 2nd race and led for about 6 laps before 5th gear went walkabout The sister Nissan Tank eventually took the lead when 6th gear went the same way as the 5th gear and rather than hold the engine on the rev limiter in 4th gear Endaf was forced to retire. So, it was a mixed bag of results for the weekend with 1 win 3 breakdowns and 2 lap records and a recording contract with Sony. ;D ;D Thanks for a great weekend guys n gals, enjoyed immensely.

The miglias run a 1275 + 20 =1293cc engine. All the competitors have to use the same camshaft and pistons. The good ones push out around 145 to 150 HP.
