2 things i was thinking??? Do you rekon you could drive from the spain up through france back to home in a mini without it exploding into a million pieces. Taking quite a slow pace though, (missing the motorways) also anybody know where you can get the old monte carlo roof racks with the wooden slats now? like to hear your thoughts???

Yeah you could do it easy! I plan on going on 'The Italian Job' Mini run within the next few years, that is a run down to Italy, all around Italy, and back ;D Just take loads of points, oil, water, dizzy caps, etc and it'll be fine! I would suggest getting it rolling roaded a week or so before you set off so you know the car is set up to its best. The Rack... think the copies are around £150. Ive seen an original one go for over £500 on ebay... Or there are non wooden slat versions with different sides that go for about £100 ish.. Depends which sort you want lol

thers no reason why a mini would break down on such a trip. if they are properly serviced then they are no less reliable than a modern car.
