LJ has used it and is up to speed on it. You won't be able to weld through that stuff. Easiest option is to leave strips of metal / panel where the weld needs to be and paint those areas after the welding. Unpainted areas, in the meantime could be sprayed with a WELD THROUGH Etch primer.

as dai said i've used it and its very good. you definitely wont be able to weld through it but its got a very high temperature resistance so you can paint right up to the area that will be welded. i done this and then the bare metal that is left was painted with zinc (weld-able) primer as for application remove any lose rust etc then apply 2 coats (must be with in 3-5 hours of each other) and always wear gloves as this stuff will not come off, it will stay on your skin until your skin peels. so about a week make sure you buy a load of cheap brushes as its cheaper to use them and throw them away than buy the special cleaner i bought it from www.frost.co.uk as well as the weld-able primer
