i was refiitng the flywheel housing or tryin too after changing the oil pump when the casin is back onn and tightened up the like cog thing the flywheel sits on wont turn

yerr new gasget none of the gears have been changed or come out its fine to a point and then all of a sudden wont turn

some gaskets are thicker than others so you sometimes have to re-shim the drop gears

Could you "double up" on the gasket (fit 2 gaskets) to get around this problem ?

Some of the , Ahem, aftermarket gaskets are not thick enough. Try measuring the thickness of the old gasket against the "new" gasket, then go from there. Genuine Rover or PAYEN gaskets would be my first choice. Doubling up the gaskets means having to re-shim the Idler gear.

yer the gasket we had was too small bout helf the thickness of the original one so i have orderd a new one and it will be hear by tuesday:D if all goes well like noithing on the car has so far engine in wednesday and paint be weekend!
