as the title says really.. Just curious.. as apparently my electronic ignitions broke, and wondering if it was standard for the year of my mini (1991) or whether it has been upgraded! Running on old styly points for now until I get a new bit.. surprising what you can find in your uncles garage!

I've got a 1990 Cooper that has had an electronic dizzy from new and I believe that the 1989 Mini30 used an electronic dizzy as well Cant be doin with points anymore !!! I even replaced the points dizzy on my 1971 MGB for an electronic one !

i think it depends on the model of your mini. Mines a 1992 City E which runs on points

Interesting mines a 1991 mini Neon!
Have already changed the coil and spark plugs and leeds as everything was sparking like blackpool illuminations (except where it was meant to be).... and got a temporary dizzy with points in it for now.
Hope I can change just the ignition bit (and it is actually that bit thats broken) as can't afford a whole distributer thingy as I think they cost a fortune!

not sure but it was early 90's, i had a 1992 studio 2 which still had points

Ruby is a 1990 cooper and shes got leki ignition....but our old auto h reg (bob) was def running on points ect...
guess it depends on what model it is...

Have you tried spraying everything electrical in sight with 'good ole' WD40 That always works for me !!! ;D
