ive gotta spray the wings of the mini where ive done some welding!

For the prep work which i hate doing, is there any type of thinner i could get which makes the removal of the existing paint any easier or do i just have to rub it down like a maniac with all my wet and dry? ;D

As Ry says, paint stripper would be fine or if you've got a grinder use one of those scotch type paint removing wheels. You can also get them to use in a drill.
