 Hello fellow Mini lovers, I crashed my car on Saturday. Lost it on diesel/oil and smashed in the front left wing. Gutted. We've been and collected it today, and my mechanic friend says that the impact has bent it. I can't afford to get the work done on it. Single mum & skint. Buying the car took up all my money. It was a cracking little car, 1.3i, 38k on the clock, one owner from new before I bought it, red leather interior, lovely superlites, faultless runner etc etc.... What do you reckon my chances are of selling it? Or would I be better off stripping it and selling it bit by bit? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Attachments:

Any chance of a side view of the damage, would then be able to see if the sills and damaged other areas

Had a sort of gut feeling that would be the case after seeing the pic on Sunday ac  . Selling it in that state might be a problem money wise.  Maybe stripping as much of it as you can and putting the bits on eBay might be a more profitable option. It might take longer that way and involve taking stuff off the Mini and posting various bits but it should be worth it in the long run. You could try listing it on eBay as a crash damaged car but put a reserve price on it. Some one will want it for pennies otherwise. |

A photo of the passenger side footwell (under the carpets where the arch meets where you put your feet) will help see if anything is where it shouldn't be. So sad though |

Looks pretty straight to me, Id say it won't take much to fix, front panel and a wing. The subframe might be a bit damaged but I got one here you can have cheap.

My boyfriend and his mate are going to go and take a look at it later hopefully; once they've done that I will have the full low down on it. They are all mechanics and classic car enthusiasts so I totally trust what they have to say. My first mechanic friend who gave it a going over reckons I'm best of selling it. He restores old cars, he built his old mini from scratch; he's on the ball & knows his stuff, I trust his opinion. We'll see.... Will keep you posted. Thanks for your sympathy  |

Hmm from the other pics it doesn't look as though it did too bad.
If you look at the passenger door the panel gap still looks sensible so doesn't look twisted. Something in the suspension looks dead though, top half of that wheel is sticking out a bit squiggly ...

As Lawson said, looks straight. Panels would not be that expesive its the labour thats a killer - Looks saveable if you can do the work yourself |

I've decided that I WILL get the work done, by hook or by crook!
I couldn't bare to part with my beloved Betty.
If it takes me six months of srcubbing toilets, I'll do it!
So, as soon as I know all that's needed, I'll let you all know.

Good decision I think. Like everyone else had said parts wise doesn't look to bad. Plus uve got people who can do the work which is a massive advantage . Good luck  |

Sold really quickly. She may have bitten the dust for me, but the place where she is going is going to treat her well. Hopefully she'll be up on the road again and in fantastic condition, which is something I can't do. |
