Well I've owned it for years and I know all it's faults, so there's no hidden botched jobs done by several previous owners.
I guess buying a Mini from an enthusiast helps or a little old lady who barely used it?

In case anyone is interested - I found the problem! The wire had caught on something under the bonnet and snapped so i connected it and hey presto the lights all work. Cleaned the fuses and connectors so I now have a horn and flashers Annoyingly the sealed beam probably wasn't broken at all but the halogens are much brighter. I might get to do the drivers side next weekend. Bit lopsided at the moment. lol

Hi EmmaB, thats great stuff, well done, and it was'nt the bulb after all, never mind as you say you have the bits anyway now ready for next time and the halogens will be much brighter too. This time of year you are always going to get those type of problems, so keep a tin of WD40 handy for the future. Well done jc

Halogens are a very worthwhile upgrade and I really wouldn't want to have to go back to using sealed beams on dipped ever again. ;D

Anyway I've just returned from the garage and my new fuse box went on a treat. I even cleaned up the wires and I finally got around to removing all the old flaky foam soundproofing that was slowly rotting away on the bulkhead. I was quite surprised at how clean and rust free it was behind there, so I'm relieved. However my hazard warning lights are still not working, so it wasn't the switch after all as I suspected. I know the circuit is okay as my interior light works and I tried fitting a spare standard indicator flasher unit relay to the hazard relay mounting and all I got was a ticking, but no lights flashed at all. I imagine that's normal as I really need a heavy duty type for the hazard warning lights? I've also tried to clean up the original Lucas relay, which was slightly rusty on the contacts, but it's still dead. They packed in a few months back when I pulled over to answer my mobile phone. They were running and then just stopped. So I guess I need to order a new relay now?

Hi Taffy Must be the relay as thats all the cct consists of after the switch & lamps. Don't think the relay would be too costly either jc

Yes thanks JC and it's just £2.78 from Somerford (plus VAT and postage), but the bloke on the phone wanted me to ring back tomorrow and speak to someone in the workshop. I'm not after a refund for the switch as I'll keep the old one as a spare now just in case, but there's obviously power getting through otherwise the indicator relay wouldn't have clicked? I'll ring them back in the morning and then order one and I hope it's an original like the indicator relay I bought some time back, because the cheap types that places like Halfords stock are said to be useless and burn out in no time. I want another one that lasts exactly 17 years! LOL
