So yesterday I started my car and it was screaming, turns out that the exhaust had come off from the manifold and the whole thing is rotten anyway.
Called Longlife just now, told him the problem, specified it's a Rover Mini and the guy gave me an estimate of £400-600 for a replacement system... WHAT THE?!
How much should I be looking at guys, I've heard something like £150-£200 in Longlife, anyone tell me how much it should be?

Does it have to be long life? Maniflow and rc40 in stainless would be at least half that

No it doesn't, but it's just convenience, and if it's not costing much more than myself and labour, I'd rather Longlife.

Prospeed in Cardiff said they'd do it for £270, and said that the Longlife people are taking the p***.

that rc40 I showed you is like £50 although its not stainless could get a stainless one for around £120 and it really is easy to fit

You wont go far wrong with the RC40 system Sam ! It has one of the best sounding exhaust notes there is for a very reasonable price. I fitted one to a Mini30 and it was the dogs danglies !!!!! The stainless equivalent is, i think, the RC50 system. More expensive but longer lasting.

Easy to fit? Even for a blissfully unaware person like myself?

;D ;D ;D Simples Sam !!!!!!! If you can use a spanner without getting a black eye and like laying on your back under the jacked up Mini you can fit it in no time at all Even easier if you have access to a car ramp

I don't, but I can hopefully get a jack, think I'll go for the normal one tbh. Call them again tomorrow and if they persist on their pricing I'll order the bits and give it a go myself!

Got to think of safety when working under a jacked up car !!! Try to borrow some drive on car ramps and/or some axle stands so that once the car is "up in the air" and you are underneath it, you'll be safe! We wouldnt want Pinkish to fall on you and "squish" you Sam !!! ;D ;D ;D

Jack you are a funny guy... Okay, the one thing which confuses me is how do the pieces fit together tightly?

You will need to use some bolt on exhaust clamps. Either the ones that you remove from the existing system or go buy some shiney new ones from a Motor Factors or Halfrauds!

Read my post in general chat! I'll be driving past Min-its in Solihull on Friday if you want me to pick up a maniflow system for you. I'll buy it, you pay me back when you collect or I'll meet you at services (Cardiff Gate or Cardiff West). They advertise in Miniworld mag and stock quality stuff. Decide which system you want and let me know. Don't reply to this post hoping I'll get it because I've got no 'puter access in my lorry but text or call me on 07807 064078 if you're interested! Gav. P.S. should cost you about 60 - 80 quid from the manifold. If you need manifold too then let me know. Bargain! Side exit ,centre exit, twin exit, the choices are up to you.

Yes you should NEVER work under a car that has been just jacked up!!! I knew a guy that did that once....jack gave way, car tell on him & killed him. Not worth the risk!!

If you need jacks and axle stands, can always use my drive fella i agree completely , i tried using a scissor jack from a new renault clio on my mini and it could not pick it up , the whole thing failed upon slight load ! how did they expect it to lift a new clio and it cant lift the little mini haha trolley jack and heavy duty axle stands with wood spacers is what i always use
