Im tempted to change back to My .38 carb with the side mounted fuel float, cos at least then I'll have an airfilter that fits, but how much power will I lose compared to my HIF44? Also how to I richen my fuel mixture? I wanna pop some flames

Try not to run the engine too rich otherwise you'll wash the oil off the bores and knacker the rings and bores. Then the exhaust gases will blow past the rings and carbonate the oil in the sump, which in turn will knacker your gearbox.
