well to cut a long story i am negotiating a deal with my boss on his 1971 mgb gt hardtop and it is simply stunning !and from the day he had it 3 years agooff my boss who has no time for it as he is far to buizy in work , has used it about 4 times , he has had a company in swansea called automech to give the car a thorough restoration apart from the interior and from outside it dose look spanking a profesional respray done on the car 2 weeks ago, brand new stainless exhaust, reconditioned original wheels (not wires) the other type , carb rebuild has just passed its mot so has 12 months left and is tax exempt , its coverd 3000 miles since it left the forecourt in 1971 , underside is perfect with no diff leaks or rot , , could realy do with an engine bay tidy up and a few little chrome replacements and it would just look amazing, il try and get some pictures off him 2moz , ive lost my phone anybody here own a b??? or had one in the past ?

I've got a 71 MGB Roadster (soft top) and on a sunny day with the top down its a really great drive. Boycie's got a 72 (i think) MGB GT ( the hardtop ) like the one you are talking about. ;D and the good thing about a 71 car is ..............THE ROAD TAX IS FREE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D

Mine at the Singleton Park Show this year. There are a number of problems to consider with fitting wire wheels. You have to fit tubes inside the tyres because of the wire spokes. Because of the way the wheels are made you are more likely to get punctures. They are right barstewards to clean !!!!! If you want the 'full on' new chromed wire wheels you are looking at over £1k and thats without tyres !!!!!!!! You can pick up a 2nd hand set of painted wire wheels, as Boycie said above for about £350 but you also need to have the wire wheel front hubs and back axle to fit as they are spin on/spin off centre hub fixings and not just 4 bolt on jobs like the Rostyle's! As you can see I have the Steel Rostyle wheels on mine and I'm in the process of replacing the painted steel wheels with chromed Rostyle's. (just got to find another 2 now!!!!! )
