ok so after nearly killing my mini from working on it trying to fix the wiper motor the flaming thing didnt work... changed it to one i had form phil ( cheers phil by the way ) and its still working on just one setting.... Is it the little white block at the back that could be the problem? im rerally stuck for what to do now , a wiper motors £30 and i dont want to dish out for one if its not even the motor. i spent ages trying to get the old one out and the ages puttin the other back in. what can i do ? when i had tyhe car it worked on two settings and it never parked. then oen day it just stopped working. only works when i put it on the highest setting and it goes really slow... not good with all this rain.

Hi Danni, since you've changed the motor and the problem is still the same it sounds like it might be the connector block on the self parking switch (the little white block). You will need to take the connector off the switch and look at the spade type connections both in the switch and on the block. Clean up any corrosion you might find and then spray everything with WD40, put it all back together and try again. Oh and make sure that the earth connection to the car bodywork is clean and tight too, that also sometimes causes problems. Good luck jc

cheers jc! ill try that when is not raining now.. as im completely soaked from puttin everything back lol so i clean up anything inside the block , being the two connectors..? what happens if cleaning this also fails

Theres also a chance that it might be the connections inside the switch - did Phils wiper motor have its own switch or are you using your old one (the little white block again!)
I have had to strip those down and clean the terminals inside before now but TBH its better to replace with new.
The wiper motor itself is full of grease to make it operate smoothly this sometimes goes hard and needs changing, but if you've changed the whole motor then its unlikely to be the same problem on both motors.
And if all else fails, its a new wiper motor!!!
Like I said before...............
Good luck

The internal contacts in those switches are a pain in the A*S*, you could split open the switch and try to clean them up but the best answer is a new switch!

right so i was looking at the park switch that came off the one phil gave me and i wasnt abel to take it apart much as it was that corroded when i cleaned it the inside was also corroded some of the connectors ahd snapped. but as from looking at the inside of phils i know for a fact the one that is in my car at present isnt right at all becasue alot of it was missing...so looks like it will be a new park switch. seen a average price of £15. so im hoping its the same price at Selective mini spares in Barry.and i also hope that will solve it. im sure ill update u all once ive been there! shame i have to wait til wednesday... i had difficult gettin the wire block out of the white block/park switch though... any ideas or will it be alot of wd40

Heres a tip. If the block has cooper conections, get a small glass or spray can lid of proper Coke. Put some coke into the glass/lid, and let the block soak in the coke over night. Next day clean off with some WD40, and all the conections will come up like new Tis what I did for my fuse box.

If you're going to the trouble of fitting a replacement wiper motor park-switch, then make sure it's a brand new one. Selective Mini Spares of Barry are good, but Jeremy does sell a lot of second hand stuff and it'd be false economy and a possible waste of time fitting anything other than a brand new park-switch.

Well done Danni! You have been busy! One great thing about keeping your mini running is the times when you have a fault, work out whats wrong and fix it yourself So thats wipers, fuse box and CD player all done! Impressed or what ;D ;D ;D jc

this was the old block for the wires that went into the park switch which i cut off and then changed to a newer one. this is a pic of the old and the new together obviously the problem just looking at it !
